Razorbug

Welcome to the University of Arkansas, home of the Razorback and his cousin the Razorbug. The Razorbug is a specially designed U of A Ambassador to promote higher education and the good will of Razorback fans nationwide. The Razorbug makes appearances at numerous events throughout the year, including Razorback football games, high school visits, alumni events, and various community festivals. Keep your eyes open for this new addition to the University of Arkansas staff!

The Razorbug is a collaborative project designed by Eric Pipkin of the University of Arkansas Office of University Relations for the Office of Admissions, and made possible by key benefactors. Created in 2005 from a Volkswagen Beetle donated by Jim Jard Volkswagen, the car was shipped to Phil Hinze of Evergreen Creative LLC in Durango, Colorado, for a full body makeover by New Creature Inc. In a previous life, the Razorbug served as a Rogers, AR DARE officer visiting elementary schools to promote a drug free lifestyle. Phil spent three months sculpting and painting the car to represent an Arkansas Razorback. Finally Cassat Auto Upholstery provided a custom interior with Razorback embroidered seats.

The Razorbug's primary mission is to assist the Office of Admissions in efforts to attract qualified students to the University of Arkansas. In addition, the Razorbug will be available on a limited basis to make public appearances. Appearances will be limited to events which benefit the creation of need-based scholarships for students attending the University of Arkansas.
