For Students Affected by Hurricane Maria

The University of Arkansas is pleased to offer in-state tuition to academically qualified undergraduate and graduate students in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands who have been displaced from their universities by the damage caused by Hurricane Maria.

In-state tuition will be offered to these students for the Spring 2018, Summer 2018, and Fall 2018 semesters. The U of A will also waive application fees.  Enrollment Services and the Graduate School will also work with students whose academic records are not immediately available due to damage at their institutions.

How to Apply

  1. Complete the online application.
  2. When completing the online application, select the option to pay the application fee by check. This fee will be waived for qualifying students from Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
  3. Send an official transcript to the Office of Admissions. If you do not currently have access to an official transcript, your application will be reviewed using self-reported scores, until an official transcript becomes available.
  4. Send your entrance exam scores to the Office of Admissions. These may include ACT, SAT, or Accuplacer scores, or another acceptable entrance exam. Contact the Office of Admissions for more information.

Once you are accepted to the University of Arkansas, you will be billed for full tuition but the out-of-state portion will be waived so that you only pay in-state tuition.
