Funding
State funding is available for eligible Arkansas public school teachers. Distribution of state funds is based on a priority system that the state updates each year. -

Scholarships
AP Fellows Scholarship
The AP Fellows scholarship provides funds for teachers at high schools serving minority or low-income students who have been traditionally underrepresented in AP courses to attend an AP Summer Institute. The $1,000 scholarship covers the cost of AP Summer Institute tuition. Remaining funds, if the APSI was in-person/on-site and after the tuition has been paid, will be sent to the teacher to be applied toward travel expenses.
AP Rural Fellows Scholarship
The AP Rural Fellows scholarship provides AP Summer Institute tuition funding for teachers serving in rural areas of the country. The $1,500 scholarship covers APSI tuition. Remaining funds, if the APSI was in-person/on-site and after the APSI has been paid, will be sent to the teacher to be applied toward travel expenses.

Emily Wright, Co-director
Emily Wright serves as Senior Associate Director for the Office of Nationally Competitive
Awards. In her role with APSI, Emily manages the registration process and any inquiries
regarding the institute. If you need assistance with registration, she will be glad
to assist you with any questions.Emily advises students who are applying for scholarships and fellowships to support
research initiatives and graduate education. Emily holds a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology
and Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Arkansas and a Masters of Arts in
International Affairs from the University of Oklahoma. Prior to joining ONCA, Emily
worked in cross-cultural and higher education in Washington, DC.

Matt Hargis, Co-director
Hargis joined the admissions staff in 2004 as assistant director for recruitment in
South Arkansas and later in Northwest Arkansas. In 2005, he assumed responsibilities
as associate director. He graduated from the University of Arkansas in 2002 with a
