Scholarship Opportunities

National Merit Scholarships at the University of Arkansas (minimum of 3.75 GPA)

  • Semifinalists will be considered for the Chancellor’s Scholarship (valued at $10,000 per year) through the scholarship application process.

  • Finalists who list the University as their first choice are advanced to a Chancellor’s Merit Scholarship: $12,000/year, with the same Honors College and priority benefits.

  • Additional awards may be available based on residency or major.

Note: Finalists must submit their National Merit Certificate and confirm the University of Arkansas as their first-choice college with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

Application Checklist for National Merit Finalists

  1. Name Us as Your First Choice

    Be sure to list the University of Arkansas as your first choice with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation by the required deadline.
  2. Apply to the University of Arkansas

    You can apply through the New Student Center or Common App.
  3. Submit Transcript & Test Scores

    Submit your high school or homeschool transcript and test scores in your New Student Center.
  4. Upload National Merit Finalist Certificate

    Upload a copy of your National Merit Finalist Certificate to your New Student Center.
  5. Honors College Fellowship Eligibility

    National Merit students are eligible to apply for Honors College Fellowships, but these awards require a separate application. You can find and complete the Fellowship application in your New Student Center.

Honors College fellowships provide funding and support for research, creative projects, and independent study. Students can apply through the New Student Center to pursue these opportunities and enhance their academic experience.

Nationally Competitive Awards Support

Work closely with the Office of Nationally Competitive Awards, nationally recognized for helping high-achieving students secure prestigious fellowships such as the Goldwater, Marshall, Truman, Gates Cambridge, Udall, NSF, and Rhodes Scholarships. Last year alone, our students earned nearly $3 million in nationally competitive awards.
