TAP Orientation
Welcome, New Razorbacks!
We are excited to welcome you to the Razorback community as part of the Transitions Academic Program (TAP), a collaborative partnership between the University of Arkansas and NorthWest Arkansas Community College.
Registering for Orientation
To register for classes, TAP students must attend orientation at both the University of Arkansas and NorthWest Arkansas Community College. Students should log in to their New Student Center to see which sessions are available.
TAP Student Orientation is hosted in June for the upcoming fall semester. Sessions are not offered in July. If you do not see any available sessions, please contact New Student Orientation.
TAP Orientation: What to Expect
U of A Traditional 2-Day Session
Offered in June
- Presented content by various campus offices
- Enrollment with TAP advisors in your college
- Optional participation in Campus Resource Fair
- Opportunities for connection among current and new students
- Optional campus, UREC and/or select housing tours
- Optional on-campus overnight accommodations for registered students
TAP Students should register for 2-Day sessions, but if you are unable to do so, please reach out to New Student Orientation.
NWACC Traditional Orientation Session
Offered in June
- Takes place on first day of 2-Day U of A Orientation Session.
- Enroll in classes with your TAP advisor (in-person)
- Can be completed at your own pace
- Review paying for college and financial aid options
- Learn about degree and class options
- Review resources available to NWACC students
Please note that the orientation modules are online, but advising and enrollment must be completed in person with your TAP advisor.
Required Documents
TAP is a collaborative program, there are items that are required by both institutions. Completing these tasks in a timely manner will ensure a smooth start to your TAP experience.

Complete the TAP Agreement
You can find the TAP agreement form in your New Student Center. -
Apply to NWACC
Completing your TAP agreement allows us to share your high school information with NWACC, however you must still submit an admissions application in their system. -
Submit your Financial Aid Application with NWACC
Your Financial Aid should be submitted with NWACC as the home/primary school. Your FAFSA should be sent to NWACC - School Code 030633. -
Housing Contract or Live with Parent Form
The University of Arkansas welcomes TAP students to live on campus. To complete your housing contract visit housing.uark.edu. Residence hall availability is on first-come, first-served basis, so please complete your contract as soon as possible if you intend to live on campus. -
Submit your Immunization Records
You can submit your immunization records showing two MMR vaccine dates to Pat Walker Health Center. If you would like for us to share your immunization records with NWACC, please complete the medical release form. Otherwise, you will need to submit your records directly to NWACC.
Find your way to NWACC
Before arriving to your U of A orientation session, you will need to attend your NWACC orientation/advising session. For both institutions, be sure to review check-in instructions and parking information prior to your arrival.

Orientation Day 1: NWACC Orientation and Advising
Your orientation experience will begin at NWACC.

You can park in any spot not marked in gold. During your advising meeting, you will received your NWACC student ID and parking tag. This will also be the time you will meet with your NWACC advisor and register for classes. -
Orientation Day 1: University of Arkansas Orientation Check-In
After you complete your advising meeting at NWACC, you can make your way to the University of Arkansas Fayetteville campus. Students may park in the Garland Avenue Parking Garage. Complimentary parking is provided on the 4th, 5th, and 6th floors of the parking garage.
Please note that TAP students must check in to U of A orientation by 3:30 PM CST to receive documents regarding class enrollment. -
Overnight Accommodations
While not required, staying on campus during your orientation session is free and a great way to meet other students. If you did not complete the housing opt-in form, please contact us ahead of time to make arrangements for overnight accommodations.
Please note, walk-ins will be limited on a space-available basis during check-in and a room is not guaranteed. -
Orientation Day 2: Attend Orientation
Please review the orientation agenda for a detailed schedule, and the 2024 Orientation Guide for more information regarding New Student Orientation before your session.
Official end times will vary, as each academic college has their own processes and timelines for enrollment. If you are making travel arrangements, add additional time to the end of your orientation experience to ensure that you do not miss flights or experience other delays.
Next Steps before Advising
- Submit official final high school transcript with graduation date, signature and/or school seal to uofa@uark.edu and NWACC via Box. NWACC requires a final high school transcript to disburse financial aid.
- If applicable, submit official college/university transcript(s) showing dual/concurrent coursework to the Registrar's Office of both the U of A and NWACC.
- Submit any AP or IB test scores to both institutions.
- Sign and return your Financial Aid Consortium Agreement to Taylor Shelton. This will be emailed to you in August.
